One thing I want you to remember right after your LED light therapy treatment: keep your skin calm for the next 24 to 48 hours. That means skipping strong actives like retinol and acids, avoiding heat and heavy sweating, and sticking to gentle cleansing, lightweight moisture, and SPF. A lot of my clients tell me they appreciate that I take time to explain what I’m doing and adjust based on their goals, and aftercare is where those results get protected.
0–6 hours after LED light skin therapy: keep it cool, clean, and simple
LED is non-invasive, but your skin still responds to the light and circulation changes, so I treat the first few hours like a “do less” window. In Glendale, that usually matters even more because Colorado’s dry, high-altitude climate can make skin feel tight fast.
Right away: I generally recommend no exfoliating, no facial devices, and no heavy heat on your face. Keep your hands off your skin and let it settle.
What’s fine right after
- If you need to cleanse, use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water.
- Moisturize with a lightweight barrier-supporting option (ceramides and hyaluronic acid are great).
- If you’re stepping outside, apply broad-spectrum SPF. Colorado sun is no joke, even on quick errands.
What to hold off on
- Retinol, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C serums, and mechanical scrubs.
- Hot showers pointed at the face, facial steaming, saunas, hot tubs.
- Intense workouts that leave you overheated and sweaty.
The first 24–48 hours in Glendale: the do’s and don’ts that protect results
This is the window where most people accidentally irritate their skin and then wonder why their led light therapy results feel “meh.” If you keep it gentle, your skin usually stays comfortable and you get the most out of the session.
24-hour plan
- Cleanse gently: once or twice is enough. No scrubbing, no cleansing brushes.
- Hydrate: add a calming moisturizer morning and night. Dry air can pull water out of your skin quickly.
- SPF daily: reapply if you’re out and about. Sun exposure is one of the quickest ways to undo the calm you just built.
- Skip heat and sweat: no hot yoga, no sauna, no hot tub. I like a full 24 hours minimum.
48-hour plan
- If your skin feels totally normal, you can usually start easing back into actives. If you feel dryness or sensitivity, wait longer.
- Keep workouts moderate. If you’re commuting along I-25 or doing a quick stop after Cherry Creek errands, this is where simple habits make it easy.
- If you paired LED with microneedling, dermaplaning, or microdermabrasion, follow the stricter timeline for that service. If you’re unsure, ask me. I’d rather answer a quick question than have you guess.
First-week habits that keep led light therapy for wrinkles on track
LED light therapy can be used for aging concerns, breakouts, and even inflammation support. I see the best momentum when people stay consistent with the boring basics for a week, especially hydration and sunscreen in our Denver-area climate. I also hear a lot of positive feedback after a series of skin services, like noticing smoother texture, fewer breakouts, or brighter-looking skin once things settle.
"Absolutely loved the results, Malak is very welcoming and goes through the process and after care from Microneedling."

Avoid these common week-one mistakes
- Over-exfoliating because your skin “feels fine.” Bring actives back slowly.
- Skipping SPF because it’s cloudy. UV still shows up, and dryness makes skin feel rough faster.
- Picking at blemishes or flakes. If you’re acne-prone, this is a big one.
If you’re working on breakouts, keep your pillowcases clean and wipe your phone down. Small stuff, but it adds up.
My go-to product types after an LED light therapy treatment
I keep aftercare simple on purpose. You don’t need a whole new shelf of products to get a good result from led light skin therapy. You need a calm barrier and consistent protection.
Cleanser: gentle, non-foaming or low-foam, fragrance-free if you’re sensitive.
Moisturizer: lightweight but barrier-supporting (ceramides are a favorite; hyaluronic acid helps with the tight feeling we get in Colorado).
SPF: broad-spectrum, every morning, and reapply if you’re outside running around Glendale or Cherry Creek.
If you’re using acne products or wrinkle-focused actives, I’ll help you time them so you’re not doing too much at once.
When to text or call me after LED, plus an easy rebook plan
Most people do great after LED. Mild warmth or a slightly flushed look can happen, and it usually settles quickly. What I don’t want is you sitting at home wondering if something is normal. If you feel persistent irritation, unexpected swelling, or anything that worries you, reach out. I’m known for being thorough, walking you through each step, and making sure you feel comfortable during your appointment, and that doesn’t stop when you walk out the door.
"My experience with her is always 10/10. She cares about your individual skincare journey and needs."

Quick planning tip: LED is a 30-minute, $40 add-on, so it fits nicely if you’re coming from Denver, Englewood, Aurora, Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village, or you’re already near the Glendale and East Kentucky Avenue corridor. Pairing it with microneedling, dermaplaning, or microdermabrasion is a great way to stack results, and I’ll tell you which aftercare timeline to follow so you don’t have to guess.
If you want to read up before your next visit, I’ve also put together resources on benefits of LED light therapy and my roundup of top facial treatments in Glendale.
This aftercare guide supports my in-studio recommendations. If you combined LED with another service and you’re unsure which rule to follow, let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.
